Intrepid indexing: indexing without boundaries
13–15 March 2013, Wellington, New Zealand
This is the first time ANZSI will hold its biennial conference in New Zealand, and we’ll be making sure all who attend feel at home in the capital. As we connect the indexing community, we’ll also extend a warm welcome to other groups we do business with (such as publishers, editors, archivists, librarians, technical writers and members of historical societies).
Technology continues to adapt the way we work: it breaks down barriers between communities and boundaries between professions. Indexing needs to be fearless. In 2013, we’ll examine how the vital index can best communicate with a limitless audience. In our city with a Beehive, we will strengthen links and build bridges.
So, be intrepid. Fly to New Zealand—we begin each day ahead of the rest, and breeze into Wellington—our place.
Walk around our friendly, compact city and shop without need of a cab. We have 400 cafés and restaurants to tantalise the taste buds after savouring a day spent on indexing. Director Peter Jackson, actor Russell Crowe, and the boys from Flight of the Conchords come from near our harbour’s shores. So too do sailor Russell Coutts, author Katherine Mansfield, and scientist William Pickering. Come explore Middle Earth—the heart of our island nation.
To all we say Nau Mai—two small words in Māori that encompass welcome, hospitality, caring, giving, and sharing.
We’re waiting to greet you.
