Advanced Book Indexing
This one-day course covers in-depth topics for fashioning professional back-of-book indexes and participants should have done an ANZSI introductory (beginners, basic and/or intermediate) course or have already produced indexes for publishers. The course is not for beginners. Detailed course material is included.
Areas covered include:
- Creation of subheadings
- Structure and concept analysis
- Marking up indexes
- Filing considerations for names, including:
- Māori names
- Aboriginal names
- Fictional characters
- Foreign language - Editing and proofing indexes
- Reindexing
- Quoting jobs/freelancing
- Networking/asking for advice.
The course will be followed by drinks and nibbles at 5.15pm and the NZ Branch AGM at 6pm. All participants are invited.
