NZ Mentoring Scheme
The New Zealand Branch runs a mentoring scheme to provide new or inexperienced members with the advice of an experienced, registered indexer. Members should have taken a basic ANZSI or other recognised training course. Indexes completed successfully under this scheme may be published and sold to libraries, etc, giving new indexers something for their CVs. Our mentor is award-winning indexer Tordis Flath and the scheme’s coordinator is Susan Brookes. Are you interested? Please email Susan Brookes,
Index Club NZ
Index Club is up and running for New Zealand Branch members to participate in. The idea is based on the book club concept. Members of the club can choose an online text with an index for the group to study over a few weeks, read and analyse the index to whatever level they choose, and then have the opportunity to post any comments or observations about the index to an online forum. This should be a fun way to think about best practice in back-of-book indexing.
