Southern Highlands Symposium
July 22 | 10:30 am - July 23 | 5:00 pm
Give yourself a gift and come to ‘Christmas in July’ at ANZSI’s Southern Highlands Symposium, hosted by the Canberra Region Indexers and NSW Indexers — all ANZSI members are welcome to attend. The symposium runs on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July. There will also be training available on Friday 21 July — a Basic Indexing Workshop with Glenda Browne, and possibly an Accreditation Preparation Workshop with Sherrey Quinn and Michael Wyatt (depending on interest).
Where is it?
Our venue is the delightful Sylvan Glen, an award-winning historic country guesthouse in Penrose, NSW. It is an easy 90-minute drive from Sydney or Canberra. You can also travel by train to Bundanoon station, which is a 2-hour journey from either Sydney or Canberra.
ANZSI has exclusive use of the venue for the weekend.
The guesthouse has several lounge rooms, a dining room, pool table, and open fires. Their Club House is a great informal place to hang out, with freshly brewed coffee and soft drinks available, as well as a wall of books to browse through. Home-cooked meals and teas are a feature, plus there’s a golf course, archery, soccer golf, and even Segways to try out for the adventurous!
2 nights: $300
Arrive Friday afternoon or evening. Includes Friday and Saturday night accommodation at Sylvan Glen in twin-share rooms, and all meals up to and including Sunday lunch.
1 night: $235
Arrive Saturday morning. Includes Saturday night accommodation at Sylvan Glen in twin-share rooms, and all meals up to and including Sunday lunch.
Add on Thursday night: $155/room
Arrive on Thursday afternoon. Includes Continental breakfast on Friday, but not Thursday night dinner.
Attend the symposium, but stay elsewhere: $50/day
Includes morning and afternoon tea, and lunch, on Saturday and Sunday — dinners and accommodation are not included.
If you are not staying at Sylvan Glen, accommodation in the Bundanoon area includes the following options:
- Bundanoon Motel: bundanoonmotel.com.au
- Bundanoon Hotel: www.bundanoonhotel.com.au
- Bundanoon Lodge: www.bundanoonlodge.com.au
- Comfort Manor: www.comfortmanor.com.au
Dinners & drinks
(For family members, or day delegates):
Friday BBQ dinner, at 7 pm: $25
Saturday 3-course Christmas dinner, at 7 pm: $55
(NB: If you are staying at Sylvan Glen, these dinners are already included in the cost.)
Sylvan Glen is BYO alcohol. You are most welcome to bring your own soft drinks and nibbles to have at the Guest House (there is a large fridge available to keep them cool).
Contact Denise Sutherland on to reserve your place, figure out room allocations, and inform us of any dietary requirements. Bookings must be made and paid for by Friday 30 June. To book, click on the links below, or go here:
Stay on Friday & Saturday nights: $300 (includes meals from Friday morning tea to Sunday lunch)
Stay on Saturday night only: $235 (includes meals from Saturday morning tea to Sunday lunch)
Stay on Thursday night: $155 (includes Friday breakfast, but not Thursday night dinner)
‘Christmas in July’ dinner, Saturday night: $55 (additional tickets)
BBQ dinner, Friday night: $25 (additional tickets)
So, as an example, if you are staying elsewhere, and want to attend both days of the Symposium, and the Christmas dinner on Saturday night, but not the Friday, the cost would be $100 (2 days as day delegate @ $50 each) + $55 (Christmas dinner) = $155.
